The Rest is a photographic object created as a UV print on a sheet of raw steel that continues to rust over time.
The work uses the physical qualities of metal, its weight, coldness and susceptibility to corrosion, to explore the image as a material trace rather than a stable representation. As the steel gradually changes, the photograph becomes part of an ongoing process of decay.
The object is placed directly on the floor, where it functions as both an image and a remnant: something exposed, discarded and still undergoing transformation.
